Beto Caradepiedra is the son of Panamanian immigrants, an inheritance he explores in his fiction. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Brooklyn College and lives in New York City, where he was born and raised. His work has appeared in StoryQuarterly, Callaloo, The Common, Pleiades, and other journals. Beto is a recipient of a Fine Arts Work Center Scholars Award, a VONA Fellow, and a proud Macondista. In 2025, his unpublished short story collection was a finalist for the Kellman Prize, formerly the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing.
